As the warmer weather heats up in the Cairngorms we look to a spring and summer full of fun! Who says it rains everyday in Scotland?
As Muckrach sits between the Lecht and Caingorms Mountain we are in the perfect location to begin your adventure in the Cairngorms, the UK’s largest national park. With hundreds of activities to do in the Cairngorms, we have created a short list of what we think is the best.
The national park offers a huge range of wildlife. Making for some excellent wildlife spotting and a perfect place for any avid photographer. Watch the migrating Ospreys make their journey home or view the wild salmon in the River Spey.
No wonder the area has been described as paradise for any wildlife lover.
The Cairngorms offers a range of incredible low-level and high mountain hikes, with approximately 280km of footpaths spread across the entire area.
With the two famous water sport parks in the Cairngorms National Park; Loch Inch and Lock Morlich you can fill your summer with sailing, wind surfing, rafting, swimming and fishing!
If you’re a keen rider then the Spring can offer the most beautiful and challenging rides through the mountains or on the roads.
Mikes Bikes Aviemore, Bike Hire and Guiding Centre are conveniently set at the start of National Cycle Route 7, located a short distance from Muckrach. Mikes Bikes hires out a range of mountain bikes, road bikes, electric bikes and children’s bikes and offer weekly-guided mountain bike rides.
For 2018 Mikes Bikes are delighted to offer free delivery and collection of rental bikes to Muckrach Country House Hotel, just quote ‘Muckrach 2018’ upon booking (must be booked in advance).
The National Park is fortunate enough to have five distilleries within its boundaries and many more within 20 miles of the park, especially heading north along the River Spey. Take your pick from The Glenlivet, Tomintoul, Benromach Distillery, Whisky Castle and Royal Lochnagar.
The firm behind the successful Benromach Distillery recently announced plans to build a brand new single malt distillery at Craggan, near Grantown-on-Spey (a short distance from Muckrach!) offering distillery tours and whisky tastings!
The Cairngorms is a Whisky lovers paradise; with a wide range of amazing distillery tours to choose from.
Your trip to the Cairngorms National Park would not be complete without a trip to fish the River Spey. With incredible views it is the ideal place to the world famous salmon and trout fish.
